Toilet Program employs local students
to identify eligible households in low-income, Los Angeles neighborhoods
and then helps install free ultra-low-flush toilets to these
homes in an effort to conserve water.
Water
Conservation and Pollution Prevention Demonstration Site
is a Jefferson, Maryland project that
features a waterless, composting toilet and a greywater filtration
system that together serve as a complete, low-cost, and non-polluting
alternative to septic systems or sewers.
Yelm,
Washington, has been recognized as the first city in
the state to reuse 100% of its treated wastewater. Instead of
dumping reclaimed wastewater on land or into rivers, Yelm uses
its water for landscape irrigation of parks, churches and public
buildings, in fire hydrants, and in an aquifer recharge wetland.
